Matilda Ruffin (b. 1998, Brisbane) is Australian artist working across oil and acrylic painting. She resides on Yugambeh land on the Gold Coast, Queensland and works as a high school teacher when she is not in her studio.

Statement

I am fascinated by strange and wonderful things, both within and outside of reality. The medieval belief in a world imbued with magic, mythologies of the past, and fantastical symbolism have all inspired recent developments in my work. A respect for the natural world, a love of high fantasy as a young reader and a keen interest in history each influence my practice.
